How We Tell the Story of Your Day

By Hazel Quinn · Our approach

Every wedding has a plot, but the best moments are never in the script. Our job is to know the plan intimately — and to keep our eyes open for everything it didn't include. Here is how a day unfolds through our cameras.

Morning: the beautiful chaos

Preparations are our favourite hours. Steam on the iron, a missing button, your best friend's hands shaking as she fastens your necklace. We arrive early, work in window light, and photograph the room before it fills — the dress, the rings, the flowers waiting in buckets — so the story starts at the very beginning.

Ceremony: invisible by design

During the ceremony we all but disappear. Long lenses, silent shutters, positions agreed with your officiant in advance. You should remember faces, music and vows — not cameras. The tear on your father's cheek matters more than another angle on the kiss, and we are watching for it.

“We forgot you were there — and then you gave us everything back. We cried all over again.” — A recent couple

Portraits: fifteen unhurried minutes

We ask for very little portrait time, but we ask for it at the right moment — that soft evening light, away from the crowd, just the two of you. A walk, a held hand, no performance. Most couples tell us afterwards it was their favourite quarter-hour of the day.

Evening: light, laughter, last dance

As the light drops we adapt — a touch of flash shaped to look like candlelight, never a blast. Speeches, first dances, grandparents stealing the floor: the evening runs on emotion, and emotion is what documentary photography was made for. We stay until the story ends, usually just after the last dance.

Afterwards: the careful edit

Then comes the quiet part of our craft. We cull thousands of frames to the few hundred that matter, edit each by hand for tone and truth, and deliver a gallery that reads like the day felt. No presets slapped across everything, no orange skin, no vanished spontaneity — just your story, kept.

That is the whole of our method: prepare thoroughly, disappear gracefully, and care enormously about the result.
